Five works for the spaces where people arrive, wait, and rest.
A lobby is a room a person walks through on the way to somewhere else. Most art placed there is chosen to be passed. This collection was assembled on the opposite premise: a guest who stops for ten seconds in front of a painting carries that pause through the rest of the stay.
The five works gathered here share a register more than a subject. Surfaces built in layers and worn back. Light that arrives from one side, late in the day. A figure at rest, a stone shape that holds the floor. Nothing in the set raises its voice, which is the point. In a corridor or a lobby, the work that lasts is the work that can hold a silence.
The set is installed in order, entry to elevator, so a guest reads the walls the way a visitor reads a house. Each work is placed for its sight line and its light.
The Quiet Room is available as a set or by individual work. Tell us about the property and we will send the full catalog, framed sizes, and a wall plan.
